Support CCGA

Background

In June of 2021, John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School – the first all-girls Catholic School in the U.S. – closed its doors forever. From that loss, a dynamic team of educators, entrepreneurs, college administrators and non-profit professionals joined forces to continue the school’s legacy for generations of high school girls to come.

Their goal?

To open a new all-girls school in Center City, Philadelphia: Center City Girls Academy. CCGA will combine the legacy of Hallahan with a more creative, innovative and holistic approach to education for the city’s young women and future leaders.

An initial campaign saw significant participation thanks to the generosity of the CCGA team, but now the time has come to secure a building for the future of the school.

The Ask

We are raising funds that will allow CCGA to sign a lease for a building in Center City and aim to open for the 2025-2026 school year.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.    When will CCGA open?

Presently, the opening date is fluid. The CCGA Board of Directors (BOD) is optimistic that the opening will occur in August 2025. That date is contingent on securing the location and the license.

2.    Will CCGA be a four-year high school?

CCGA will be a four-year high school, grades 9-12.

  • September 2025 – open for grades 9 and 10

  • September 2026 – open for grades 9, 10, 11

  • September 2027 – open for grades 9, 10, 11 and 12

3.    What will tuition be at CCGA?

Our current estimated tuition is $15,000.00 for year one. Each year, there will be an increase based on operational costs.

4.    Will financial aid be available?

CCGA will make every effort to assist students financially. However, financial aid funds will be limited and families are encouraged to seek outside funding. Families are also encouraged to contact their local representatives and encourage them to support school choice.

5.    I made a donation to CCGA. How were my funds used?

Thank you for your support! Donations from our initial fundraiser allowed us to register CCGA as a nonprofit corporation with the state of Pennsylvania, receive tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and remain an operational organization. We are currently raising funds to sign a lease for a building in Center City so we can educate the next generation of female leaders.

6.    What happens to my donation if CCGA is never opened?

The CCGA BOD is currently working toward their goal of securing a location and the license needed to open. However, if CCGA were to dissolve, the BOD would follow the regulations which govern the closure of a 501(c)(3). Any assets which remain after paying all liabilities must be given to another tax-exempt organization or to the state of Pennsylvania for public use. Additionally, the BOD would designate another 501(c)(3) with a mission and vision aligned to CCGA to receive any remaining funds.
